DAYTONA 500/ WATERWAY ISLES 15 SPEEDWAY RACE PARTY FEBRUARY 24TH; COFFEE AND CONVERSATION FEBRUSRY 21ST; BOOK CLUB REMINDER; CASINO BUS TRIP

We had a very exciting car auction at the cocktail party Saturday night!  We are pleased to announce the proud owners of the cars racing in the Waterway Isles 15 Speedway on Sunday, February 24^th!

We will have more information on the drivers’ names; corporate sponsors; racing teams, etc. We want  you to come to the Daytona 500 Party to see these cars race each other on our indoor track and maybe place a friendly wager or two on whose car you think is the fastest!  Tickets go on sale this WEDNESDAY!!  We will be wagering on the DAYTONA 500 also.  And have food and fun!  We have to limit it to the first 72 residents to sign up.  This is one event you do not want to miss!

There are a few seats left on the bus to the Hard Rock Casino. Sign up before it’s too late! 

Coffee and Conversation will be held on  Thursday, February 24^th.  We need volunteers to help with set-up and clean-up, so please call Kathy Burns at 772-778-6018 and offer your services!

The Book Club is meeting this Friday.  There’s still time to read this month’s selection!

Waterway Village Chinese New Year Cocktail Party Information

Hi, Party-Goers!

We will be setting up for the Chinese New Year Cocktail Party at 10:00 am Saturday morning.  If you are available to help with tables and chairs; tablecloths; paper goods, etc. we’d appreciate a few minutes of your time.  We are usually done in an hour.

The theme of this party is “CHINESE NEW YEAR”.  If possible, please bring an appetizer or snack with an oriental flair!

If you need ice to keep things cold; or a warming tray to keep things hot, please bring them with you  because we do not have enough for everyone.  The same is true for SERVING UTENSILS!!  And please TAKE HOME YOUR SERVING PIECES AT THE END OF THE PARTY OR WE WILL THROW THEM AWAY.

We will have paper goods, ice and water.  All other beverages are BYOB.

We will be holding our usual 50/50 RAFFLE.

We will hold the car auction for the Waterway Isles 15 Races to take place during the Daytona 500 Party on Sunday, February 24^th.

For those of you not familiar with the history of racing in Waterway Village, a brief lesson:  It started with Ray Heckman making adorable wooden horses for our Kentucky Derby Party two years ago.  Charlie Spadora made the track and got the dice; Arlene Nelson got the betting program ”BACKYARD BOOKIE” and we had a fantastic Kentucky Derby Party.  There were owners and stables; jockeys and silks; horse’s names and lineage; Kentucky Hot Browns and Mint Juleps; and, oh yes, betting!

That went so well and everyone had such a great time!! So Ray said, “I have some extra wheels just laying around.  What about cars?”  And so, the INDY 500 Party was held last May with owners and corporate sponsors; and sports car names; and drivers;  and chicken dinners; and, oh yes, betting!   

We will auction off these six beauties  with the bidding starting at $10.00.  The total purchase income from the sale of the six cars becomes the prize money for the owner of the winning car in the Owner’s Cup Race.  The new owners will decide the make and model of their car; its features; sponsors; driver; corporate name, etc, just as they do in the racing circuit!!  The day of the races (there will be 4 in all) we will have some “friendly wagering” based on the information supplied by the owners!

Finally, during the party we will selling space for the HARD ROCK CASINO BUS TRIP taking place Wednesday. February 20^th.  If you want to buy your tickets then, complete the attached registration form and bring your money ($32.00 per person).

2013 IS THE YEAR OF THE SNAKE ACCORDING TO THE CHINESE ZODIAC!  COME CELEBRATE AND GET GOOD FORTUNE!

PLEASE SEE THE POSTS BELOW FOR THE DATES AND TIMES FOR TICKET SALES FOR THE FEBRUARY 9^TH CHINESE NEW YEAR COCKTAIL PARTY AT OUR CLUBHOUSE!  IT’S $3.00 PER PERSON.  BRING A CHINESE-STYLE APPETIZER/SNACK/DESSERT AND YOUR BEVERAGE OF CHOICE; WE’LL SUPPLY THE PAPER GOODS, ICE AND WATER.  WE’LL HAVE OUR 50/50 RAFFLE.  WE MUST LIMIT IT TO THE FIRST 72 PAID RESIDENTS, SO NO WALK-INS THE NIGHT OF THE PARTY.

AT THIS COCKTAIL PARTY, WE WILL AUCTION OFF THE SIX RACE CARS USED FOR THE WATERWAY ISLES 15 SPEEDWAY RACES which will be held on Sunday, February 24^th in conjunction with the DAYTONA 500.  We will have a little friendly wagering; a little food; and lots of fun!  SAVE THE DATE!  More details will be sent out in a separate e-mail!

The February Book Club meeting is Friday, February 15^th at 10:00 am.  See the flyer for the selections for February and March.

Coffee and Conversation will be held on Thursday, February 21^st, from 10:00am to noon.  A separate notice will go out for this event and a sign-up sheet will be in the mail-room.

There is a Social Committee meeting on Wednesday, February 6^th at 7:00 P M.  Everyone is invited to attend.  Let us know if there is anything you’d like to work on or activities you’d like us to look into for our Community.
