1. Jacqui Testolin called the January 8, 2009 Meeting to order.
2. November 30th Christmas Tree Trimming Party was a huge success. We had 40 people attend who brought a red or gold tree ornament for our beautiful tree. Special thanks to Jacqui, Piero and Frank & Johanna who set up the tree Saturday the 29th. Also a special thanks to Ann Mazzini for making all the bows for the tree.
3. December 5th Bus trip to Mt. Dora was very enjoyable for the 13 residents who went on the trip. Thank you to Johanna Davis for making all the arrangements. We hope to do this again next year and have our own bus but we will need more people to sign up to do so.
4. GYAC Christmas “Angel Tree Program” was really appreciated by the Gifford Community; 450 children received their gifts from Santa who arrived on a Fire Truck. Al and Arlene Nelson did a great job in representing the HOA. We had a giving tree set-up in the mailroom with cards that people selected to purchase items for the children. We did have 50 cards but only 48 were filled. We hope that next year we can do this again with 100% participation from our community. There were several generous people in the community that did take more than one card so they could make someone happy for the holidays that are not as fortunate as we are here in our community.
5. December 11th Social Committee Meeting was cancelled.
6. Saturday, December 13th, 5 PM. Christmas Party was tremendous And over 120 people attended. Each attendee contributed $5.00 towards purchase of a new Grill and it is now in the kitchen area of the clubhouse. The Sales office contributed $300.00 towards the purchase of the grill. They also provided us with $600.00 for the party since they invited people who just closed in December, people under construction and people under contract. It did make our party quite a success - thanks to the Sales Office for their generosity. There was delicious food served: Honey Baked Hams; Chicken Picata; Salmon; Beautiful Gourmet Cheeses; and libaceous desserts. Plus all the wonderful food that everyone brought. Thank you to: everyone who did kitchen duty; our resident florist Ann Mazzini for her beautiful floral arrangements and wreaths; our set-up crew; our clean up crew; and everyone who volunteered their time for our community. A special thanks to Johanna & Frank Davis for stepping in when I was out of town and Arlene & Al Nelson for decorating the Clubhouse. Without this great group of people our party would not have been a success.
7. December 16th, Cookie Exchange; we had 16 participants who baked absolutely delicious cookies. Arlene Nelson combined all the recipes and printed them up & placed them in the mailroom for distribution. If you missed them you can obtain them from Arlene at arlenecnelson@comcast.net
8. December 31st, New Year’s Eve Party was fantastic. We had 30 people attend. Everyone brought an appetizer to share; we had hats, noisemakers, beautiful decorations, good company, dancing and champagne to bring in the New Year.
9. HOA purchased additional folding tables and chairs for the clubhouse and also gave us $250.00 towards purchasing holiday decorations.
10. HOA will publish a monthly newsletter for the community and will include the Social Committee activities. Anything newsworthy should be submitted to Keith by mid-month for the next issue.
11. HOA activities have attracted more people than the facilities can handle. Future activities may result in a “first come first served” basis and limits may be set on the number of people who can attend. During the cooler months when activities need to be inside there will be a limit of 68 people. We do not have the room for people to be seated for the activity. We hope you understand.
12. Al Nelson, 772-539-9127 has developed a listing of Residents; contact Al if you would like to be listed and to get a copy as well as to update your personal data.
13. Cheryl Campbell, 772-778-9693, is the Children’s Event Coordinator. Cheryl will be listing and organizing the activities but we are asking that the parents will also be active in helping out. We will need parent participation to make this a success for the children in our community. If you have any ideas or suggestions please do not hesitate to call Cheryl she will welcome you.

16. Next Social Committee Meeting will be posted on our new bulletin board in the Mailroom.
17. There is a sign-up sheet in the mailroom for “Dancing Aerobics”; we need at least 6 people to sign up before we can get the instructor to come.
We would like to thank everyone for participating in the activities that we have planned for the community. But in order to keep it going we do need people to help us out with set-up, breakdown, kitchen help, and cleaning up. If the same people keep doing it everyone is going to get burnt out and will stop volunteering. We need some new blood to help so our volunteers can also enjoy the parties just like everyone else in the community. Let us know if you would like to help.
Jacqui Testolin
Social Director
