Fasten your seat belts!! We are in for more fun-filled adventures here in the Isles of Waterway Village!!
First, next Wednesday at high noon, join Betsy Nowell and Ruthie Schamback in the Clubhouse to learn how to play that ancient Chinese game MAH JONGG. Our Book Club will meet on Friday, October 21, at 10:00 am in the Clubhouse. This month’s selection is Devil in the White City, by Erik Larson.
Finally, mark your Calendars, the FESTIVAL ITALIANO is Saturday, October 22nd.. It will be catered by South Beach Pizzeria serving Stuffed Shells and Meatballs; Salad; and Garlic Knots. Dessert and Beverage are included. Cost is $13.00 per person. There will be a trivia game, Italian Cities Bingo; 50-50 Raffle and prizes. Check for ticket sale dates and times!

WATERWAY VILLAGE TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 13th COFFEE AND CONVERSATION
After a short Summer Break, Coffee and Conversation Is back!!
Join us for a hot cup of Joe; a fresh baked goodie and a little bit of chat about a lot of this and that!!
Everyone is welcome. We only ask that you sign-up at the Clubhouse “post office” so we have an idea how many to expect and can make name tags.
There is no fee to attend. It’s not required, but if possible, we appreciate it if you bake or bring some food item to share (baked goods, fruit, morning snack). Or, to help defray our costs, a donation box will be out if you’d rather a monetary (nominal) contribution. Not required, though. Just come to meet and greet (and eat!)
We usually set up the tables, chairs, coffee pots, etc. about 8 am, and would love to have some help! Otherwise, see you at 10:00 am.
Any questions, or to volunteer please call Sandy Pinto at 772-978-0788 or Arlene Nelson at 772-539-9127.

Waterway Village September 3 BARBECUE AND SPECIAL PREVIEW ANNOUNCEMENT!
JUST A REMINDER!! TODAY, SATURDAY is the BIG DOG BARBECUE!!! Weather permitting, the Smoker will be pulling up in the parking lot just before 5:00 PM with some of the BEST Barbecue you will ever taste!! So bring your appetite and whatever beverages you may want other than Iced Tea or Lemonade!! Food Service will begin about 6:00 PM to give everyone a chance to come in and find a seat. We have a full house, so we ask that you please not rearrange tables and chairs. Thanks.
Speaking of arranging tables and chairs…we will be meeting at the Clubhouse at 11:00 am to move furniture; set up tables and chairs and put out tablecloths; some cups; etc. and can use as much help as possible. For the last party, there were only 6 of us. We did it; but there were 46 other people who also enjoyed themselves at that party!! The more helpers we have, the faster it goes! See you at 11:00!
Finally, as you can see from the attached flyer, The Social Committee decided to turn the September Cocktail Party into a Pizza Party like the one we had in February! South Beach Pizzeria will supply the Pizzas and Garlic Knots; we’ll provide the Salad, Dessert and Beverages; you BYOB! It will be 3 slices of pizza per person again; choices will be Extra Cheese; Mushroom; or Pepperoni. We are keeping it at $8.00 per person!! And, as we did at the last Cocktail Party, you can buy your tickets for it AT THE BARBECUE BEFORE IT IS EVEN ANNOUNCED TO THE REST OF THE COMMUNITY!! We will have to limit this event again to the first 72 people. So don’t forget to bring your wallet or at least enough money to buy your tickets so you don’t forget and you don’t miss out!!
See you at 11:00 for set up.
If not, at 5:00 for the Barbecue! Thank you for your support and enthusiasm for these summer activities.
We are exploring more and more new and exciting activities and would love to hear from all of you if you have any ideas!

WATERWAY VILLAGE SATURDAY, AUGUST 13th COCKTAIL PARTY; AND SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 3rd LABOR DAY BARBECUE

The Social Committee has been busy planning more exciting events like these coming up in the next few weeks!
We know you love them, so we’re having a “Beat the Heat Cocktail Party” on Saturday, August 13th. It’s $3.00 per person, payable at the door. BYOB for beverages other than the Iced Tea, Lemonade, Water and Ice we provide! Also, please bring an appetizer or other snack to share.
If you come to the Cocktail Party, don’t forget to bring EXTRA CASH ($13.00 PER PERSON, TO BE EXACT!) because you’ll be the first ones to buy your tickets for the Labor Day Barbecue to be held on Saturday, September 3rd , at 5:00PM.
This year we are having the picnic catered by Steve Wesley of Big Dogs Barbecue. He will be cooking onsite. Everything is made from scratch! And the menu includes: BOTH Pulled Pork and Pulled Chicken; Baked Beans; Cole Slaw; Garlic Bread; Choice of White or Sweet Potato; Brownie (or Sugar Free Dessert if Needed); Tea, Lemonade or Water; and all the “Fixin’s”! BYOB for ALL other drinks. We’ll have Ice and Cups! Also, bring a big appetite, because you are in for some of the best barbecue ever!
Some of their clients include: Habitat for Humanity; American Legion; Indian River and Brevard County Schools; American Cancer Society; Florida Eye Institute and, soon, The Isles of Waterway Village!!
We have an exciting Calendar for the rest of the year which we will unveil in the next few weeks. We are still working on a few details. We hope these activities will attract new residents to our get-togethers, keep our hard-core partyers happy, and welcome back some old friends and neighbors whose company has been missed for whatever reasons.
We also want you talented people out there who have been event coordinators; or volunteers for other organizations; or have worked on fund-raisers to get in touch with us and come to the next meeting. As the Community grows larger, the tasks of the Social Committee grow with it. In order to continue the activities we have and perhaps add more, we need additional people to help coordinate specific events or activities within an event. We KNOW you are out there!!
So, please e-mail Arlene Nelson at arlenecnelson@comcast.net or Lauretta Spadora at cespadora@yahoo.com and tell us what your talents are; what you’re interested in; or that you just want to help!!
See you at the Cocktail Party and Barbecue!!

Please see the attached book Club notice and reading selection for the May 20th meeting.
OTHER HAPPENINGS:
Tickets are on sale this week from 3:00 to 5:00 PM for the Kentucky Derby Party and Waterway Downs Horse Races May 7th. This will be a fun activity with good food; watching the hobby horse races, and finishing off with the RUN FOR THE ROSES, the Kentucky Derby! The Mint Juleps will flow on the verandah! Y’all be there!!
Also, Ray Heckman has worked very hard bringing our six handsome (hobby) horses to life!! They are up for auction this Saturday, April 30th from 4 to 6 pm in the Clubhouse. Bids will start as low as $5.00 per horse. We don’t expect the bids to bids to be very high! The highest bidder for each horse will be the owner of record for the races on May 7th. Each will name his/her horse; find a jockey, make up a Stable Name, pick the color of the ‘silks’ (the shirt/signature color of the jockey and owners); and perhaps adorn the horse with a few decorations!
So come on out to the Clubhouse and join in the excitement of the first Jewel of the Triple Crown, The 137th running of the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, May 7th from 3:00 to 7:00 PM.
And join in the fun of the Horse Auction this Saturday, April 30th. There’s no admission charge. Snacks will be served. Bring a favorite beverage if you like and at least come and watch!! Who knows…you may go home with a handsome steed or a cute little filly!!
Hope to see you there!!
